From 2025, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine intends to significantly expand purchases of fresh farm products for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This step is aimed at improving the quality of military food by using affordable and useful products of Ukrainian production.

According to the press service of the Ministry, purchases will include a wide range of seasonal vegetables and fruits. In particular, zucchini, tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage and apples will be added to the soldiers' diet. This decision was made in order to provide soldiers with fresh and healthy food, which has a more affordable cost compared to other products.

Deputy Minister of Defense Dmytro Klimenkov emphasized that the new initiative is a response to the challenges of war and will also make the diet more diverse and beneficial for the health of servicemen. In addition, cooperation with local farmers will help support the national agricultural sector during the war.

The introduced changes have already been fixed in the updated rules "Periods of delivery and packaging of products according to the Catalog of food products", which regulate the process of purchasing products for the army. The new supply requirements take into account the seasonality of products, which will ensure the freshest possible supply.

These updated rules are scheduled to come into force in early 2025 and will be implemented through the Ministry of Defense's procurement agency, DOT. Such an approach will not only improve the diet of the military, but also contribute to the development of local agriculture, which is of strategic importance for the economy of Ukraine in wartime conditions.

Thus, the Ministry of Defense continues to improve the logistics and supply of products for the army, putting the health of servicemen and support of national manufacturers first.
