A three-year maximum of sunflower prices was recorded in Ukraine

In Ukraine, sunflower prices reached new heights last week, setting a three-year high for the first time since the end of May 2021. According to information and analytical agency "APK-Inform", this growth is caused by a number of factors that affect the market of oil crops in the country.

According to price monitoring, the official purchase prices of processors in the last period fluctuated within 22,500-24,500 hryvnias per ton with delivery (SRT). This indicates a significant increase in the demand for sunflower among processing enterprises that seek to meet their needs.

Analysts note that while companies are reporting some increase in sunflower supply, it still remains insufficient. As a result, those who urgently need to replenish stocks to meet oil contractual obligations actively raise prices. According to information, prices have increased by 1,000 hryvnias per ton compared to the previous week, and companies are ready to pay extra for larger volumes and oiliness.

The increase in sunflower prices is also related to the increase in the cost of sunflower oil on the export market. This has a positive effect on domestic commodity prices, however, many refiners are already reporting low or almost non-existent profitability of processing oilseeds. This situation threatens the stability of production and their ability to maintain competitiveness.

Thus, the sunflower market in Ukraine is under pressure from various factors, which may lead to further price fluctuations. In this regard, analysts recommend closely following the development of events on the market, as changes in the price policy can have a significant impact on the agricultural sector of the country.

Against the background of these changes, it is important to consider not only the economic, but also the social consequences for producers. An increase in the prices of raw materials can affect farmers' incomes and their ability to invest in the further development of production.
