Which agricultural machinery do Ukrainian farmers choose: the results of the study

Ukrainian farmers actively choose equipment from leading domestic manufacturers. According to the survey of the Agro.Ria marketplace for April-August 2024, the most popular brands among farmers were Kharkiv Tractor Plant, Farmer and Demetra. These three companies received more than 33% of all searches on the platform, indicating high trust and interest in their products.

According to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, during the period since the beginning of the year, the country's agricultural enterprises have purchased 859 units of equipment worth 913.6 million hryvnias. The largest number of purchases took place under the compensation program, which encourages farmers to update the technical park.

Farmers from Kirovohrad (10.9%), Poltava (10.2%) and Mykolaiv (8.3%) oblasts used the compensation program most actively. Sumy (6.9%) and Odesa (6.1%) regions were also among the leaders. These regions demonstrate a significant demand for the latest agricultural machinery, which contributes to increasing the efficiency of agricultural enterprises.

As of the end of August 2024, tractors remain the most popular category of agricultural machinery in Ukraine, accounting for 27% of all searches. In second place in terms of popularity are planters with a share of 18%, and harrows, which are searched for by 14% of users, took the third place. Other categories, such as harvesters, cultivators, sprayers and plows, are also not overlooked by farmers, but their demand is somewhat lower.

It is interesting that the regional preferences of farmers differ significantly. For example, in the central regions, such as Kirovohrad, Poltava and Cherkasy, farmers are most often looking for harrows. On the other hand, in the western regions, in particular in the Rivne and Volyn regions, harvesters are popular, and in the eastern regions, such as Donetsk and Kharkiv, the most requests are for tractors and planters.

The results of the study also showed which models of equipment are the most popular in different regions of Ukraine. For example, XT3 models from Veles-Agro are leading in Vinnytsia region, and Galeshchyna Solomiya 11 agricultural machinery in Chernivtsi region. PT-18 seeders are preferred in Zhytomyr region, and PBN-30 models from the Kobzarenko plant are popular in Khmelnytskyi. Kyiv region, on the other hand, chooses the XT3 model, and in the Sumy region, the most frequently requested is the ZhSB technique from Sunfloromash.

Summarizing the research, it can be stated that Ukrainian farmers actively use both domestic and foreign equipment. The most popular brand of agricultural machinery in Ukraine remains the Kharkiv Tractor Plant, which received 16% of inquiries. In second place is the Farmer company with 11%, and Demetra took the third place with 6%. Among other popular manufacturers, Remsintez, Veles-Agro, Zavod Kobzarenko and BilotserkivMAZ should be noted.

These data indicate that Ukrainian farmers are actively updating their equipment and pay great attention to the quality of equipment, which helps to increase the productivity and efficiency of agriculture.
