At the end of summer, consumers in Ukraine witnessed new price fluctuations for meat products. According to the Association "Swine Farmers of Ukraine", retail prices for chilled meat semi-finished products have increased again. In particular, an increase in prices for various types of meat was observed in August, which became noticeable on the market.
According to ProAgro Group, in August, prices for chilled pork rose by an average of 3.2%. The price of chicken rose by 2.5%, while beef rose by 2.8%. It is noted that although pork has become more expensive among all types of meat, it has become more affordable compared to last year and the end of 2023.
For example, if at the end of last summer and in December 2023, the average retail price of a kilogram of chilled pork was UAH 206.1/kg and UAH 202.7/kg, respectively, then in August 2024 it decreased to UAH 199.6/kg. kg This indicates some relief for consumers, although the general upward trend in prices remains.
However, not all meat products reflect the general trend. “Premium pork semi-finished products such as steaks, tenderloin and neck have become more expensive this year. The August increase in the prices of neck and thigh meat shows a higher rate of growth compared to the average indicators," the Association of Pig Farmers of Ukraine noted.
In general, the meat market in Ukraine demonstrates complex price dynamics, which requires careful monitoring and adaptation from both consumers and suppliers. Meat prices remain volatile, and further fluctuations in the market are possible depending on seasonal and economic factors.
