This fall, a new hazelnut processing plant will open in the Cherkasy region, which will become part of the ambitious project of the Hazelstar company. The plant will specialize not only in Italian varieties of hazelnut, but also in local varieties such as Barcelona and Catalan.

According to the owner of the company, candidate of agricultural sciences Makar Tereshchenko, the new plant aims to process about 100-200 tons of hazelnuts in the first year of operation. This volume indicates a serious approach to the expansion of processing capacities in Ukraine.

Tereshchenko explained that hazelnut processing is carried out by different methods depending on the variety. Italian walnuts, as well as some other European and American varieties, are blanched through roasting, which gives them a creamy color. Other varieties are treated with steam, which changes their structure, but preserves their quality.

The farmer also noted that there is a demand for various types of blanched hazelnuts in the confectionery industry. The need covers both roasted and steamed nuts. In addition, the industry is opening its doors to hazelnuts of various origins, including Azerbaijani, Georgian and Polish varieties.

The Hazelstar plant has the potential to significantly impact the hazelnut processing market in Ukraine, creating new opportunities for local farmers and suppliers. This will also contribute to the development of the local economy and increase the export of Ukrainian nuts on the international market.

The launch of the plant symbolizes a positive trend in the development of the country's agricultural sector, demonstrating Ukraine's ability to integrate modern processing technologies and meet the demands of the international market.
