Sunflower prices remain stable, despite the reduced harvest

Despite forecasts of a reduction in production, sunflower prices in Ukraine remain stable. The reasons for this were unfavorable weather conditions, in particular two waves of abnormal heat, which significantly affected the potential of the harvest.

According to GrainTrade, dry and hot weather accelerated the process of sunflower harvesting in the southeastern and central regions of Ukraine. However, the first results of threshing in these areas showed low yield and oil content of sunflower. This caused fears that total crop losses could reach 25-30% of the predicted figures.

Despite this alarming news, processors have not yet reacted to the situation by raising prices. Currently, prices for sunflowers of the new crop are 19-20 thousand hryvnias per ton with delivery to the factory. This preservation of price stability is taking place against the backdrop of lower prices for sunflower oil and meal, which is caused by a significant volume of cheap soybean meal and soybean and palm oil on the world market.

The sunflower market remains under the pressure of global trends that may affect the price situation in the near future. The lack of significant price growth currently reflects a certain stability in the face of changing economic conditions. At the same time, farmers and processors expect further development of the situation on the market, which may affect future price trends.
