In Volyn, in the Kovel district, an important step has been taken to improve agricultural production and increase productivity. The first organizations of water users are registered here - Ukhovetsk UHC and Bilin UHC. They will take over the management and restoration of reclamation systems, which is key to improving the efficiency of agriculture in the region. This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

The organization of water users "Ukhovetsk" was created on the basis of the Melnytsk drainage system by the "Vasyuty" water treatment plant company. In turn, the "Bilin" HVAC was founded on the basis of the "Bobrovka" drainage system by the "Bilynske" sewage treatment plant company. For more than eight years, these agricultural societies have been engaged in the cultivation of various agricultural crops, such as cereals, sunflower, corn and rapeseed, on an area of about 2.5 thousand hectares.

However, problems with the condition of the reclamation infrastructure, in particular flooding in the spring and drought in the summer, negatively affect the productivity of these enterprises. Agrarians were forced to support the operation of reclamation systems by their own efforts, cleaning canals and drainage collectors. The creation of water user organizations is aimed at more effective management of these systems and restoration of hydrotechnical facilities, which, in turn, will contribute to increased productivity.

It is important to note that the Volyn region has a significant potential for land reclamation development, as there are 416.6 thousand hectares of drained land with an extensive network of land reclamation channels. This creates favorable conditions for the further development of agriculture in the region.

In support of these initiatives, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in June approved a decision on compensation for the costs of restoration and construction of reclamation systems. From now on, agricultural producers who use reclamation land can receive up to 50% compensation for the cost of reconstruction and modernization of existing or construction of new reclamation systems.

In addition, water user organizations will be able to receive compensation of up to 50% of the costs for the restoration of pumping stations. The total amount of state aid for agricultural producers will be up to 26,500 hryvnias per hectare of cultivated land, where hydraulic melioration is carried out, which does not include the cost of sprinklers.

Thus, the creation of water user organizations and the introduction of state support programs will contribute to a significant increase in the efficiency of agricultural production in Volyn and ensure stable harvests in the face of climate change.
