During the first four months of 2024, Ukraine significantly increased the volume of shellfish exports. During this period, 329 tons of products were sent to foreign markets, which is 2.1 times more compared to the same period last year.

This is reported by AgroTimes, referring to the data of the State Customs Service.

In monetary terms, the export of shellfish amounted to $931 thousand, which is 2.2 times higher than the figures for the first four months of 2023. This significant increase indicates the growing demand for Ukrainian products on international markets.

Spain, Poland and Lithuania became the main buyers of Ukrainian shellfish. Spain purchased the most, providing 57.8% of total exports. Poland and Lithuania took the second and third places, buying respectively 15.7% and 15.4% of Ukrainian products.

These data show that Ukrainian molluscs are becoming more and more popular in Europe. Such growth in demand is explained by the high quality of Ukrainian products and competitive prices, which makes them attractive to foreign consumers.

Positive dynamics in the export of shellfish indicates the successful development of this industry in Ukraine. Thanks to the support of the state and effective management of producers, Ukrainian products find their consumers on the international market, which, in turn, contributes to the economic growth of the country.

In the future, if the trend continues, Ukraine may become one of the leading exporters of shellfish in Europe, which opens up new opportunities for domestic producers and strengthens the country's position on the international arena.
