The Ukrainian market is witnessing a significant increase in prices for white cabbage, with the price of this vegetable rising by 17% over the past week. According to EastFruit analysts, prices for cabbage currently range from 8 to 12 UAH per kilogram.
Experts say that the rise in prices for cabbage is due to an increase in demand for this product as part of a borscht set, while supply is decreasing. Owners of quality cabbage refrain from selling it, hoping for further price increases.
According to EastFruit's monitoring, average prices for white cabbage in Ukraine have risen to UAH 8-12 per kilogram, which is 17% higher than at the end of last week. This has led to the fact that prices are now on average 55% higher than last year.
Analysts emphasize that the overall reduction in the supply of cabbage on the Ukrainian market was the result of a ban on sales by local farmers. At the same time, farmers prefer to keep quality goods in storage at least until mid-January.
While cabbage is experiencing a rise in price, onions and potatoes are not immune to the price increase. Onion prices rose by 20% over the week due to a decrease in the supply of low-quality products, while potatoes rose by 17% due to increased demand.
However, it is worth noting that the table beet market has seen a decline in prices. Farmers are selling beets for UAH 5-8 per kilogram, which is lower than last week. Thus, Ukrainian consumers are facing changes in the cost of vegetables, which determines the diversity in price dynamics in the vegetable market.
