How a heat pump works and why to use it
Air conditioning and heating have become an integral part of everyday life in any home, office or commercial space. A heat pump is an alternative to a gas or electric boiler that can work for heating, air conditioning and even hot water. Homeowners who have recently installed a heat pump for a private home can worry less about volatile fuel prices thanks to heat pumps' low electricity consumption and high level of efficiency. What are the advantages of heat pumps?
Quiet, safe and economical. For many people, the heat pump is still the optimal heating system because it uses the ambient heat, which is already available and free, and makes it suitable for heating and hot water. Basically, the advantages of a heat pump can be divided into two areas:
- Economic. Most heat pumps are currently highly efficient and keep heating costs low in the long run. One of the main reasons is the thermal energy of the environmental source. Unlike natural gas and oil, it is not subject to any economic or political fluctuations. Another economic advantage of the heat pump is its low-maintenance operation.
- Ecological. If you heat with a heat pump and therefore do without a liquid fuel or gas boiler, you can significantly reduce your carbon dioxide emissions. Therefore, for many experts, heat pumps are an important building block on the way to a climate-neutral society.
What types of heat pumps exist
There are three types of heat pump heating:
- air heat pump is also called air-water heat pump.
- ground water heat pump, also called water-water heat pump.
- geothermal heat pump, also called ground-water heat pump
Heat pumps, whether they are sourced from the ground, air or water, are excellent options for upgrading your home, as they not only provide you with a solid return on investment, but also improve the quality and value of your home.
