The Ukrainian vegetable market is facing a significant price decline

The Ukrainian vegetable market is facing a significant price decline, especially for beets, an integral part of the borscht set. According to analysts of the well-known EastFruit project, prices for this root vegetable are already at a low level compared to the previous year.

Experts point to an increase in the supply of beets on the market as the main reason for this price decline. Wholesale companies and retail chains, responding to the limited demand, reduced their purchases of this vegetable, which became the basis for the observed price decline.

The producers themselves, in turn, report restrictions on sales of beetroot this week, suggesting that they are temporarily holding back in anticipation of higher prices for this product in the future.

The project's daily monitoring data shows that prices for table beets currently range from 5 to 8 UAH per kilogram, with the average price decreasing by 19% compared to last week. In addition, selling prices are already 20% lower than in mid-November 2022.

Market players are of the opinion that there are no reasons to expect beet prices to rise in the near future.

It is important to note that Ukraine has also seen a sharp rise in potato prices in early November, with prices averaging 17% higher compared to the previous business week, ranging from UAH 8 to 12 per kilogram.
