New trends in the vegetable market in Ukraine: price changes for cucumbers and beets

Changes in the price policy on the market of vegetables in Ukraine affect the price of consumers, in particular, in relation to cucumbers and beets. Since the beginning of November 2023, the Ukrainian market has shown a certain decrease in prices for greenhouse cucumbers. Note that despite this reduction in price, they remained high compared to imported counterparts.

Greenhouse plants, which play a key role in growing vegetables in Ukraine, set new price standards for cucumbers. Over the past week, the price of cucumbers has increased by an average of 10%, reaching UAH 60-75/kg. This trend indicates a small but noticeable increase in the price of this popular vegetable.

According to analysts, the stable demand of retail chains for cucumbers is one of the main reasons that allows manufacturers to raise prices for their products. This reflects the interaction between supply and demand on the vegetable market in Ukraine.

In addition, price dynamics are supported by a sharp reduction in the supply of cucumbers in the country. Many greenhouse plants have already completed the season of realization of the current turnover, which helps to keep prices at a high level.

According to data on November 7, 2023, a sharp increase in onion prices was observed. In this short period, its price has risen by 25%, compared to the end of the previous week. This development has become a real novelty for consumers and traders.

In addition, on November 9, potato prices began to rise noticeably. Their range varied from 8 to 12 hryvnias/kg, on average 17% higher than at the end of the previous working week. This caused some concern among consumers, because potatoes have always been a key product in the diet of many Ukrainians.

According to experts, the next step may be a rise in the prices of cabbage, beets, onions and carrots in November. Forecasts show a possible increase in prices for these vegetables by an average of 6-13%. This calls for the attention of consumers when planning their purchases.

No less important is the information that by the New Year the prices of vegetables may increase by another 15%. The main reason for this is the high demand for vegetables and the limited amount of quality supply on the market. In particular, the price of onions is expected to increase the most due to increased demand and limited harvest.

In this situation, understanding and carefully studying market trends can become important for consumers who want to effectively manage their food spending in the face of rising vegetable prices.

In light of these changes in the cost of vegetables, it is important to understand the factors that influence the formation of price policy on the market of cucumbers and beets in Ukraine. Observing the further development of the situation will make it possible to forecast possible changes in the price of these main vegetables in the future.
