Prices for pork and other meat products in supermarkets have fallen

According to the results of the monthly monitoring of prices for meat products in supermarkets, it was found that in October, pork prices fell significantly. The average price of chilled pork this month lost 2% compared to the previous month, averaging 206.5 UAH/kg.

Analysts of the Ukrainian Pig Association recorded significant price reductions for various parts of pork, including steak, pork tenderloin and shoulder. The price tag decreased by an average of 1.3% and 1.0%, respectively. Other types of pork cuts also fell in price, although the decline did not exceed UAH 1 per kg.

Although pork prices in September were driven by a decline in purchase prices, the decline in the retail market was more pronounced in October. Live pork prices declined due to seasonal fluctuations in supply and demand. However, changes in retail prices did not fully reflect changes in the commodity market.

Similar trends are also evident in prices for other meat products. In October, prices for chicken decreased by 0.6% (to 131.3 UAH/kg on average), while the average price of chilled beef increased by 1.7% (to 380 UAH/kg).

The decline in pork and chicken prices in October is an indicator of seasonal fluctuations in the meat market, reflecting changes in both demand and supply of food.
