According to specialist Vadym Stotskyi, the price of sunflower will increase, reaching its maximum at the end of January or the beginning of February.
If farmers have the opportunity to keep this crop, they should hesitate before selling. This opinion was expressed by the director of the "Agro-Rythm" farm, Vadym Stotsky, during an interview on the YouTube channel.
According to Stotskyi, farmers who own both wheat and sunflower are planning to sell only oilseed sunflower, and this may not be the best decision. "Wheat has no potential for price growth. Currently, it is sold for 4 thousand hryvnias per ton. Even if the ports are opened, the price can rise to a maximum of 6.5 thousand hryvnias per ton.
And what about sunflower, which has the potential for price growth? When will the active collection and at the same time the ports will remain closed and Europe will not import it, only Ishmael and Reni and their own processors remain.
But of course farmers need working capital and this can lead to oversupply and artificially depressed prices. Practice shows that in in September-October, the price of sunflower reaches its lowest level. Currently, it is 8,000 hryvnias per ton," the expert explained. Despite this, he emphasized that the price of sunflower will increase even if the ports remain closed.
"If we look at the futures for January and February, then every day they conclude contracts at higher prices. Thus, sunflower will grow. If there is an opportunity to save it, it is not worth selling it now for 8 hryvnias. The price of sunflower will gradually rise until the New Year and will reach its peak at the end of January or the beginning of February," added Vadym Stotskyi.
