The agricultural season in Ukraine is already in full swing, and with it comes active harvesting of vegetable crops. According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vinnytsia region currently has the largest harvested area, Lviv region is ahead of the others in terms of the amount of vegetables grown, and Poltava region shows the highest yield.
Vinnytsia region harvested 51% of the total area intended for vegetables. Lviv region shows impressive results in terms of vegetable production, having harvested 151 thousand tons. In turn, Poltava region stands out with the highest yield, reaching 244 centners per hectare.
In total, vegetables were harvested from an area of 88.4 thousand hectares, which is 23.2% of the total land area. The average yield in the country is 163.9 centners per hectare.
The total volume of harvested vegetables is 1,450 thousand tons, including
cabbage - 105.4 thousand tons,
cucumbers - 310.3 thousand tons,
175.0 thousand tons of tomatoes,
onions - 428.0 thousand tons,
carrots - 51.7 thousand tons,
table beets - 35.3 thousand tons,
other vegetables - 344.3 thousand tons.
In addition, it is important to note that more than half of the cucumber area has been harvested - 51.4%, and onions - 51.4%.
Special attention is also paid to potato cultivation. Ukraine managed to grow 711.5 thousand tons of this crop with an average yield of 138.9 centners per hectare. The Khmelnytsky region showed a particularly impressive result, with potato yields reaching an incredible 290 centners per hectare.
The vegetable harvest season is well underway, and some regions, such as Vinnytsia, Lviv and Poltava, have already completed harvesting cucumbers, onions and other crops.
