Volyn farmers have started harvesting winter barley, which is an important milestone in the region's agricultural activities. The total area under winter barley is 7.7 thousand hectares. This was reported by the Volyn Regional Administration.
According to preliminary forecasts, the active harvesting phase will begin at the end of the second decade of this month, when winter rape and winter wheat harvesting will start.
In total, the area for harvesting grains and pulses in Volyn is 303.3 thousand hectares. Out of this amount, winter crops cover 176.6 thousand hectares, including wheat - 149.1 thousand hectares, rye - 1.7 thousand hectares, and barley - 7.7 thousand hectares. As for spring grains and pulses, the area under planting is 126.1 thousand hectares, including 13.3 thousand hectares of wheat, 20.0 thousand hectares of barley, 57.0 thousand hectares of corn, 30.8 thousand hectares of oats, 2.7 thousand hectares of buckwheat, 2.2 thousand hectares of peas, and 100 thousand hectares of millet.
In addition to grain crops, industrial crops will also be harvested on an area of 152.3 thousand hectares. In particular, rapeseed will be harvested from 51.8 thousand hectares, sunflower from 42.5 thousand hectares, and soybeans from 58 thousand hectares.
