Pork prices rise in Ukraine

The growth rate of pork prices in Ukraine continues to increase, although the demand for this product is stable. According to the Pig Producers of Ukraine Association, as of the end of June, the weighted average purchase price for slaughter pigs rose by 1% and now amounts to 82.8 UAH/kg in the wholesale market. It is worth noting that in some regions prices remained stable.

In the week before June 29, in the central, western and southern regions, operators purchased consignments 1-2 UAH/kg more expensive than before. At the same time, in the eastern regions, prices remained unchanged. In particular, in the western regions, the wholesale price of pork ranged from 81-82 UAH/kg, in the central regions it reached 84 UAH/kg, and in the east the maximum wholesale price was 85 UAH/kg.

Representatives of meat processing have not yet recorded excessive trading activity, and some even complain about its decline. However, many operators note stable demand and systematic sales of products.

The Pig Producers of Ukraine Association noted that they do not currently observe a surplus of commercial pork, noting that in most regions it is difficult to buy additional volumes after the end of the auction. In general, procurers believe that pork supply and demand are currently relatively balanced, and they do not see any specific prerequisites for lower purchase prices.

It is worth recalling that Ukraine reduced pork imports by one third. In March, supplies of chilled and frozen pig meat amounted to 503 tons or USD 949 thousand in monetary terms.
