The European Commission adopted important changes to the regulatory acts related to the quality control of some types of agricultural products. Special attention is paid to meat and edible meat offal, as well as cereals. These innovations, approved by Commission Regulation (EC) 2024/891 of 22 March 2024, amend Annexes II and V to Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the establishment of maximum residue levels for the substance bifenazate in certain products .

These new regulations entered into force on October 14, 2024, after which they will be mandatory for all members of the European Union. An important initiative is also the adoption of Delegated Regulation 2024/1141 of December 14, 2023, which concerns the amendment of Annexes II and III to Regulation (EC) No. 853/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council.

These changes apply to certain types of meat, fish, dairy and eggs. They provide for the establishment of special hygienic requirements aimed at ensuring the safety and quality of these products for consumers. The provisions of this document apply from 9 May 2024, but some aspects will be implemented from 9 November 2024.

These steps by the European Union indicate that product safety and quality are becoming increasingly important for regulation in agriculture. It also underlines the EU's commitment to protecting the health of its citizens and ensuring the highest safety standards for products consumed on its territory.
